About Terry....
Here was his recent day-long hospital stay and the only way he could leave was to eat a sandwich and see if it caused a reaction of intense pain!

So we are
trying to get ready for winter. As usual we aimed for the whole nine yards and as of this writing we have hoses and weeds and junk scattered. This will be our week! I said we were
aiming! I didn't say we were on target!!
**********************************
We partied on Saturday. My friend, Joan, will be 80 years old on Dec. 1. Her 3 kiddos decided to throw her a surprise party now and not wait for winter. She hates surprise parties plus what are the odds of 50-60 local Mormons actually keeping a secret and not letting the cat out of the bag??? I take back my doubt! It was kept a secret! so much fun...Old friends (longstanding and age-wise!) and then lots of family that traveled to get here. Loved seeing the interaction of everyone.
It was held in the Church Pavilion that our Ward has. It is beautiful! We are just now sort of starting to use it. For a long time it just sat there and sometimes we would forget it was available! We heard that one per Stake is allowed! We also have a ball field plus our simply gorgeous Chapel (that we love, appreciate and enjoy). Anyhow off subject so back to the party. Here are a couple of pictures....

So...this is the pavilion! What was I thinking???? well, the roof! |

Family waiting for Joan to arrive |
|
She arrived but doesn't want to get out of car. Gentle persuasion! |

Joan and her 3 party-giver children....family applauding her and then we all sang Happy Birthday |

Uh-huh...still visiting and laughing and sharing tales

Joan's son Mike and his wife. Details being added to cake. |

It was so pretty! (the meal before the cake was scrumptious!) |

Carol- dressed to match her cake colors!

Carol is the 8th wonder of the world. She lives to serve and serves 24/7. IF there was some sort of contest I could enter her in for devotion to living a life, 100%, to service?....I'd enter her and win the jackpot!! She always does a reading at events of her own writing. She told some really fun stories. There was a bit of side-comedy though-- as she started reading the wind came up so ferocious that napkins and candy wrappers and paper plates and cups were flying everywhere and Carol had to really yell it out. She and Joan have known each other for at least 40 some years. Probably longer.
A Toppenish friend, Arlene, brought the house down with her story, from 44 years ago, when they worked in Primary together. That Toppenish building is so strange- with a set of stairs to a basement set of classrooms and a bathroom at the bottom of the stairs. Joan was teaching a class of boys that were a bit rambunctious. They would go to the bathroom and forget to come back. Joan decided, when they did not return, to go find them. She stood outside the bathroom door and pounded on it hard and said.... come on out of there! get to class!! get done in a hurry! get out here! Now!! This is your last warning! She kept pounding on the door! Finally the door opened and all she saw were some huge shoes and a belt buckle almost eye-level!! The man said... Sister, I hurried out as fast as I could! It was the Stake President!! He is super tall! 6'6"? (he is now our Temple President) When I talked to Joan about it, she said that he has never forgotten that incident nor does he let her forget!!
(as I look at these pictures I've posted, I fully admit, this is the worse collection ever! I guess I just stayed in one spot and took pictures of the same thing! Joan isn't even featured front and center!)
