Suddenly there was scratching inside the chimney! Like a cat! What???!!! Greg felt it was outside on the roof. I felt it was in the chimney. He opened the fireplace door and nothing was there. I went outside and saw the chimney and grate and topper. All enclosed.
The scratching happened off and on. Greg went over and started slapping and knocking on the chimney. He opened the door and there sat a large blackbird! Greg has big hands and he picked him up and the bird flew into the dining room window and stunned himself. Greg picked him up again...gently talked to him and stroked him and walked out to porch. He had a grip on Greg's finger and just sat there. Then he seemed to regain his senses and flew away!
Bye Bye Birdie |
Bye Bye BlackBird! those lyrics are in my head from when I was a girl and it would be playing on the radio early in the morning. Loved the sounds of it! Ella Fitzgerald might have been the artist
Bye Bye Blackbird
Pack up all my cares and woes
Feeling low here I go
Bye, bye blackbirdWhere somebody waits for me
Sugar sweet so is she
Bye, bye BlackbirdNo one seems to love or understand me
And all the hard luck stories they keep handing me
Where somebody shines the light
I'll be coming on home tonight
Bye, bye BlackbirdNobody seems to love or understand me
And all the hard luck stories they keep on handing me
Where somebody shines the light
I'm coming on home tonight

Springtime and the bird flew the coop and flew over my cuckoo nest! I am determined to de-junk and deep clean and with yesterday being the first day of Spring it seemed like a good day to start! You have to give me credit for never giving up!
It will take me forever at my speed but I will putt putt along. I pulled everything from the shelves in my bathroom and heaped on the kitchen table. The task was not finished but I have a great start.
I have so many hotel soaps and shampoos that it is funny! One is from the Enzian Inn in Leavenworth
and that goes back a really long way. I use small bars of soap by my kitchen sink as I'm a soap and water hand washer so they are handy.

Why wasn't more done yesterday? I'd been up until 1a.m. the night before and PT for Terry that morning and blah blah blah. It will happen as we do need the table when we eat a meal!
I feel happy and confident and relaxed in a strange way with my once again determined to de-junk attitude. Do NOT roll your eyes at me! I mean it this time!!
this was found and I'll probably be needing it....

PS- do people still read Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes to their little ones? I loved the rhythm of them and the lilting swaying sing-songy comforting sound of my Mothers voice. I remember this one...
Sing a Song of Sixpence
By Mother Goose
Sing a song of sixpence,
A pocket full of rye,
Four and twenty blackbirds
Baked in a pie.
When the pie was opened
The birds began to sing—
Wasn't that a dainty dish
To set before the king?
The king was in the counting-house
Counting out his money,
The queen was in the parlor
Eating bread and honey,
The maid was in the garden
Hanging out the clothes.
Along came a blackbird
And snipped off her nose.
